Cherry Studio

Cherry Studio manages model providers as services. Add NextModel once as an OpenAI-compatible provider and it sits next to the services you already use.

Quick start

  1. Get your NextModel API Key

Create a key in the NextModel console — the desktop app stores it locally.

  2. Add a provider under Settings → Model Services

Open Settings → Model Services, add a provider, set the API address to https://api.nextmodel.app/v1 and paste your key into API Key.

  3. Register claude-sonnet-4-5 on the provider

Use the provider's add-model action and type claude-sonnet-4-5 as the model ID so it shows up in the chat picker.

  4. Verify with one request

Run this from any terminal — a JSON reply confirms the address, key and model line up.

    Shell
    curl "https://api.nextmodel.app/v1/chat/completions" \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer <YOUR_API_KEY>" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{"model": "claude-sonnet-4-5", "messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "ping"}]}'

FAQ

Does the API address include /v1?

Yes. For OpenAI-compatible providers fill in your endpoint with /v1 — the same base the OpenAI SDK expects.

Where is the key stored?

Cherry Studio keeps provider keys in its local app settings and sends them only to the API address you configured.

The model doesn't appear in chat

A custom provider starts with an empty model list. Add claude-sonnet-4-5 under the provider, then reopen the picker.

Troubleshooting

Connection check fails

Confirm the API address ends with /v1 and has no trailing slash, then re-verify the key with the curl request in step 4.

Replies keep failing with model-not-found

The model ID registered under the provider must match what the endpoint serves — check it is exactly claude-sonnet-4-5.

Codex CLI

OpenAI's terminal coding agent, pointed at NextModel.

Codex CLI reads model providers from ~/.codex/config.toml. Add one provider block that points at your NextModel base URL, export your key, and every codex run routes through NextModel.
